Sausage Zuppa Toscana

This is a Meal-In-a-Jar recipe, where you simply add water.

In a quart jar/Mylar bag, layer these ingredients:
1-1 ½ C freeze dried diced potatoes
½ C sour cream powder
*1 C instant Pinto bean
½ C powdered milk
*1 C freeze dried sausage crumbles
1 Tbls. chicken bouillon
¼ -1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 tsp. garlic powder
½ C freeze dried chopped spinach
¼ tsp. onion powder
¼ C dried onion flakes

*If you choose to leave out the beans and sausage, and use canned beans (drained) and fresh meat (brown before use) instead, you will need to decrease the amount of water needed by 2 cups.
To get everything to fit, you will need to shake the powders into the spaces of the potatoes, beans, and sausage, one layer at a time.

Include these instructions:
In a crockpot:  Combine 7-8 C water with contents of jar.  Cook on low for 4 hours.
On the Stove:  In a large pot, combine 8-9 C water with contents of jar.  Bring to a boil, and then simmer until beans and potatoes are tender (about 20 min.).
