German Apple Cake

Whether or not this is actually German, I have no idea, but this is what it was called on the allrecipes.com website I got it from.  It's supper yummy, and moist, and definitely worth a try.  Since your using fresh apples, you'll want to eat it all within a few days, or it can start to get a bit soggy.

2 eggs
1/2 C apple sauce
1/2 C oil
1 1/2 C sugar
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
dash nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 C flour
1 tsp. baking soda
4 C apples (peeled, cored, thinly sliced, and cut again into thirds) that's about 4-5 apples

Beat the eggs until frothy.  Add in the apple sauce, oil, sugar and vanilla.  Mix well.  Add in the rest except for the apples, and mix well.  Fold in the apples by hand, and spread the batter into a greased and floured pan.
You can use a bunt, 9 x 13 pan, or 2 8" round cake pans.  Bake at 350.  If you're using a bunt, bake for 50 - 55 min.  If using a 9 x 13 pan, bake for 45 min.  And if using 2 8" pans, bake for 25 min.  Be sure to employ the toothpick test.
Enjoy!
